Privacy Policy

KiPedia is built for kids and families. This policy is written in plain language so parents can understand exactly what happens with their data.
Last updated: May 2026

The short version

  • No accounts. No passwords. No personal information collected from children.
  • Your reading history lives only on your device — we never see it.
  • We collect anonymous usage counts (how many articles were read today, which topics are popular). No names, no IPs stored, no tracking across sessions.
  • No ads. No data sold to anyone. Ever.

What we collect

Anonymous analytics

When an article is read, we record: the article title, the reading level chosen, and the language. We also record anonymous counts of feature usage — for example, how many times the read-aloud button was pressed. None of this is linked to a person, device, or IP address.

What we do NOT collect

  • No names, email addresses, or contact details
  • No IP addresses stored in our database — IPs are used only transiently for rate-limiting (held in memory for up to one hour, then discarded automatically)
  • No device identifiers or fingerprints
  • No location data
  • No cookies used for tracking

What stays on your device

Your reading history (the list of articles you've explored) is stored in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Your chosen reading level (e.g. “Ages 7–9”) is also stored locally so it persists between visits. Again, we never see this.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

KiPedia is designed for use by children. We take this seriously.

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable under GDPR). KiPedia requires no registration and collects no personally identifiable information at all. Parents can let their children use KiPedia without concern that personal data is being gathered.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information about a child, please contact us at hello@kipedia.app and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. As KiPedia currently has no accounts, we have no way to notify users directly — so we'd encourage parents to check back occasionally.
